What exactly is Pinterest?

Pinterest is above all a social network.

Even if it differs a little bit from the most famous ones, it is still a sharing platform.

Its name comes from the English combination of pin and interest.

It is therefore arranged as a table on which we come pinning down ideas of any type (images, proverbs, quotes, recipes...) that you can save on your profile and/or share publicly with the possibility to add comments if you wish.

How do I get a Pinterest account back?

Thanks to Legapassthe deceased may have left you his login and password to access their Pinterest profile. In order to retrieve this data, you must be the legitimate legatee. After verification of your identity and the classic procedure done by a bailiff, you will be given all the data present in Legapass. Thus, you will only need to search the list for "Pinterest" data and enter the information returned on the site.

Managing the closure of a Pinterest account

Closing an account is easy on Pinterest.

It should be noted that on this occasion, the account will be deactivated and all pins and boards on Pinterest will be deleted, as well as all related data which will then also be permanently deleted. So be sure to transfer the items you want to keep beforehand, as their recovery will therefore be impossible.

Upon deletion, the public profile is deactivated immediately, but the final deletion will take place after 14 days.

Closing procedure :

  1. Log on to Pinterest using the access codes that you will have in your possession.
  2. Click on the chevron icon in the top right-hand corner at the bottom of the page to open the account.
  3. Click on "Settings.
  4. On the left, in the navigation bar, click on "Account management.
  5. Then click on "Delete account located under "Account Changes"..
  6. Then click on " Continue ".
  7. You will then have to select the reason for departure, then click on "Send e-mail in order to receive an e-mail that will allow you to make the deletion effective.
  8. Check the email address linked to the account Pinterest to confirm its closure (This is why it is worthwhile to retrieve, beforehand, the email identifiers via Legapass).

Please note that the deceased's mailbox will always be the last to be closed.

How do I get a Pinterest account deleted?

In the event of your death, you may request the deletion of a account Pinterest.

To do so, you must send an email to care@pinterest.com indicating :

  • the email address to access the account Pinterest
  • and the act of death of the deceased

Or via this link.

To do this, you must click on the blue button at the bottom of the page: "Send a request.

You will then have to check the accounts of the deceased which are to be closed, by attaching your personal details before clicking one last time, at the bottom of the page on "Send request.

Is the fence mandatory?

The law "Informatique et Libertés" gives the possibility to the heirs to carry out the steps allowing "to update the information concerning the deceased".

The answer is: No, the fence is not mandatory in the strict sense of the word. On the other hand, it is not possible, of course, to use the account of the deceased, if not in his or her name, but the network must agree with such provisions. For the moment, Pinterest only allows the suppression, not commemorationlike other social networks such as Facebook.
